Volunteer Roles
Our Volunteer Advisors are an essential ingredient in the achievement of our vision and our efforts to have a presence across our area and involve local people in the grant-making process. We will give appropriate training for each role and we aim to offer an effective support structure. We also welcome any feedback from volunteers and are eager to incorporate good suggestions into the day-to-day workings of the Community Foundation.
There are a number of roles for Volunteer Advisors:
Grants Panel Members
Our successful track record of hundreds of grants made to inspirational and much needed community projects has been made possible by the invaluable contribution of our grants panel members.
These Volunteer Advisors give up their time to attend regular panel meetings and make decisions, based on the relevant fund criteria, as to how funding is distributed. Grants panel members consider applications submitted to a specific fund after they have been trained to make decisions on the fund’s criteria. Often our panel members are able to contribute essential pieces of local knowledge in order to facilitate the decision-making process.
As Monitoring Support Advisors
This is a new initiative: Monitoring Support Advisors will provide invaluable support to the Community Foundation and help fulfil the requirements of a consistent post-grant monitoring and evaluation process. This role will also contribute to measuring the impact of our grant-making.
No previous experience is needed and training will be provided. While we will provide you with the necessary tools to facilitate the tasks below, you need to be comfortable talking to people and not be afraid to ask searching questions.
This role is very much about measuring the impact our investment in the community has had and it is also about seeing the people behind the applications and showing interest in their achievements. It is not about policing community groups.
We are hoping to collect positive feedback on how our grant has made a difference and we will be able to use this information to channel more investment into the community because we can show potential donors how their money could benefit others.
As Fundraising Advisors
Fundraising Advisors will contribute to our continued efforts to raise money for the benefit of community groups and projects across our area.
Our main fundraising vehicle in which we will involve our Fundraising Advisors will be the borough specific Community Funds we are establishing and for the East London Fund. We are hoping to reach out to individuals across each of the boroughs to donate from £10 per month into these funds, which through careful investment, will ensure that communities will have a perpetual source of grant funding available in future.
If you are interested in any of these roles please complete our Volunteer Advisor Registration form. If you would like to contact to someone about becoming a Volunteer Advisor please contact us or telephone us at 0300 303 1203.
We help communities in London, particularly those in North East London, in Barking & Dagenham, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
