ELCF welcomes Chair of the Charity Commission
We were delighted to welcome Dame Suzi Leather, the Chair of the Charity Commission, to East London Community Foundation recently. Dame Suzi and her colleague Kensa Cooper came to find out about the important work we do to support small charities and community groups in East and North East London by giving out small grants and advising donors on effective charitable giving.

Dame Suzi Leather and Kensa Cooper met with ELCF Vice Chair David Harris, Acting Director Anja Beinroth, and members of the Haringey Grassroots Grants panel at the premises of Casa de la Salud Hispano-Americana, a small charity which provides health services for Spanish-speakers in London.
Dame Suzi enjoyed her time with us:
"I was particularly interested to learn about the issues faced by the local organsations we met, and it was very heartening to see the passion and commitment of the people that run them. It proved very useful to have both the perspective of you as grantmaker, as well as that of local organisations.
"It was a very interesting and insightful
meeting and we learned a huge amount in the short time we were with you. You've certainly given us a lot to think about."
