Project Selection Process
Every time a grant is approved from your Fund, each applicant has been through a rigorous selection process.
We believe in supportive grant making and we want to fund well run organisations, no matter how small, and good projects that will affect the quality of life for local people. Our aim is to help groups deliver the best projects they can - we look for great ideas, not the ability to fill out forms. To this end, we will talk to applicants, help them develop their ideas and refer them to relevant sector specialists.
1. An application form - which is straightforward to complete.
2. Investigate Financials - we take a look at their accounts: are they solvent, are they sitting on large amounts of their own money, or do they have deficits that are not being addressed? Sometimes, we offer free tailored financial training as a condition of a grant.
3. Constitutional Set Up - They must have rules outlining their responsibilities and area of work. We check that they are democratic, and legal, working to help good causes rather than themselves.
4. Child and other Vulnerable Persons Protection and Equal Opportunities/Diversity Policies - this ensures the welfare of children and vulnerable people. We help point groups to where they can obtain training and support.
5. Safeguards - in order to safeguard your interests, a set number of compulsory checks are carried out to ascertain that an applicant is genuine and in real need of your support, ensuring your Fund is only used for what it is intended.
6. Applicant's Eligibility - it is only after this detailed process that we would put applications forward to your Fund, allowing you to make informed decisions about your grant making.
We want to make sure that when your money reaches a group, they are equipped to use it properly and effectively. If you choose to support the applicant, you can rest assured that your money is being used in accordance with your wishes whilst enabling the implementation of genuinely good ideas that will make real and effective changes to the lives of local people.
We help communities in London, particularly those in North East London, in Barking & Dagenham, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
