Why give to the Community Foundation?
There are so many good causes and groups and charities who need and seek funding. You may be interested in a particular area of need, but are not sure which groups to support or know where your help is most needed. Our aim is to make the process of giving an enjoyable and simple one for all our donors by offering a flexible, tailor-made and personal service.
We believe that donors can benefit more when they are involved in the process of giving and when they can see for themselves the positive results that their support can provide. The most effective way to achieve this is by local giving with which we can assist. Unlike most other charities, we are not asking people to give “to us” but “through us”.
As the vehicle for the Grassroots Endowment Match Challenge, the only endowment builder for East and North East London, and an organisation that cares passionately about the communities we serve, we hope that we can assist you to help the causes for which you also care deeply.
We are local. We bring together people and organisations to develop solutions to meet real, local needs. We understand the issues that face our local communities and can help ensure your donation goes direct to where it is needed most
We are accountable. We are governed by an active board of trustees who know the local community well. Our comprehensive grant-making policies ensure that requests for funds are legitimate and that they are efficiently and carefully assessed
We are flexible. You can have as much or as little involvement in the grant-making process as you choose. You can change your mind, over time, about the groups and causes you want to support. You can make a small or large donation, single or regular, cash or in kind
We are knowledgeable. We can work with you and your professional advisers (solicitors, accountants, and others) to ensure you make your gifts tax-effective, sometimes even saving you money in the process. We accept and invest a wide range of assets, ensuring they are safe-guarded for the future
We are quick. We can respond to new challenges and social concerns as they arise. You can set up a substantial named fund with a simple agreement, in just one meeting
We are convenient. We achieve efficiency by pooling funds for investment. We take care of legal and tax requirements, as well as grant administration – cheque writing, tracking recipients and keeping records
