Leave a Legacy
Leaving a gift in your Will is an important way to make a huge difference to your local community for generations to come. When you leave a gift in your Will, we ensure your gift stays local and supports the causes you care about most.
The Community Foundation welcomes gifts of all sizes:
Leave a gift of £25,000 or more to set up your own Named Fund. You choose the name of your Fund and causes you want to benefit. The Community Foundation will ensure grants are awarded according to your wishes forever
- Leave a gift of any size to the East London Fund
- Leave a gift in your Will to support one of our Existing Funds
Ways to leave a gift in your Will:
Residual – you may choose to leave whatever is left over once all your other legacies have been made and all costs met. This is the residue of your estate.
Specific – this is when you choose to leave a specific item such as a painting, books, jewellery, an area of land or even your home
Pecuniary – this is when you leave a specific sum of money to a person, organisation or charity. Please remember that inflation may impact on the value of this legacy.
Percentage - specify a gift of a percentage of the value of your estate.
Making a Will
Making a Will does not have to be expensive or complicated. You should consult a solicitor for advice. A Specimen Will wording can be found here.
If you already have a Will, the simplest way to make minor changes or additions is by making a Codicil. This is an instruction that is kept with your existing Will which your solicitor will help you draw up. A Specimen Codicil wording can be found here.
If you decide to leave a gift in your Will to the Community Foundation we would be delighted to hear from you. We treat all information you give us in strict confidence.
